A warm welcome to Hylands-Service.co.uk

Many modern electricals are connecting to the internet via home broadband connections

However whilst these devises offer some very useful features, the reliability & speed of your connection are crucial to there operation

If you are having issues, we would recommend first hard wiring the devise to your router - WiFi connections offer convenience, but can be prone to interference - if this cures the problem please ask us about mains extenders we can supply to try as an alternative to running a long LAN lead if this isn't practical.

It's also worth checking your router is plugged into the master phone socket
Long unscreened phone extension leads can cause issues, it's better to run twisted pair LAN leads than telephone extensions

Finally turn off all other internet enabled devises that may be sharing the same connection.

If above doesn't cure the problem - from your PC you can see what speed you should expect on your phone line here, this site will also tell you if any better ADSL options are available in your area http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
NB. If your phone line isn't with BT you will have to use the postcode check they also offer

Once you know what's expected there are various sites that will provide a Speed test on your line to see what you are actually getting such as:

http://www.speedtest.net/   or  http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

Given the above information you will then need to contact your Broadband provider

Note: As always with the web, ensure you have a up to date anti virus program and remember before entering credit card details, the site may be as secure as the Bank of England, but if your computer has been infiltrated with Spy Ware, its your PC that will cause you the problem!
